Flat milling cutters are broadly divided into:
1. Flat end milling cutter for rough milling, removing a large number of blanks, small area horizontal plane or contour finishing;
2. Ball-end milling cutter for semi-finishing and finishing of curved surface; small knife can finish milling small chamfer of steep surface/straight wall.
3. The flat head milling cutter has chamfering, which can be used for rough milling to remove a large number of blanks, and can also be used to finely mill small flat chamfers (relative to steep surfaces).
4. Forming milling cutters, including chamfering cutters, T-shaped milling cutters or drum cutters, tooth cutters, and inner R cutters.
5. Chamfering knife, chamfering knife has the same shape as chamfering, and is divided into milling cutter with chamfering and chamfering.
6.T-type knife, can be milled T-slot;
7. Toothed knives, milling out various tooth types, such as gears.
8. Rough leather knife, rough milling cutter for aluminum and copper alloy cutting design, can be processed quickly.
Flat milling cutters are commonly used in two materials: high speed steel and hard alloy. The latter has higher hardness and stronger cutting force than the former, which can increase the rotational speed and feed rate, improve productivity, make the knife not obvious, and process difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel/titanium alloy, but the cost is higher, and the cutting force is rapidly alternating. It is easy to break the knife in the case.
